Black Comedy or Dark Comedy
A
black comedy (or dark comedy) is a work that makes light of serious, disturbing
and taboo subject matter. Black comedy or dark comedy is deals with disturbing
subjects such as death, drugs, terrorism, rape, and war, can sometimes be
related to the horror drama genre. Black comedy often uses farce and low comedy to
make clear that individuals are helpless victims of fate and character. The purpose of dark comedy is to
deals with serious and often shocking subject matter in a light-hearted way. It
can be used as a tool for exploring difficult issues. It is likely to provoke
discomfort and serious thought as well as amusement for an audience.
According to Britannica
Encyclopedia black comedy corresponds to the earlier
concept of gallows humor. Black comedy is often controversial due to its
subject matter. The term black humor (from the French humour noir) was coined
by the surrealist theorist André Breton in 1935 to label a subgenre
of comedy and satire in which laughter arises from cynicism and skepticism,
often relying on topics such as death. Black humor is related to that of
the grotesque genre.
The
purpose of black comedy is to make light of serious and often taboo subject
matter; some comedians use it as a tool for exploring vulgar issues, thus
provoking discomfort and serious thought as well as amusement in their
audience. Popular themes of the genre include murder, suicide, depression,
abuse, mutilation, war, religion, barbarism, drug abuse, terminal illness,
domestic violence, rape, homosexuality, incest, pedophilia, child sexual abuse,
insanity, nightmares, disease, racism, homophobia, sexism, disability (both
physical and mental), chauvinism, terrorism, genocide, political corruption,
torture, and crime. Thus, all
of them have several aims to the audience, although they are black comedy or
dark comedy, like Scary Movie.
Scary
Movie is a 2000 American parody film
directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans. The film is a dark comedy
that heavily parodies
the horror,
slasher,
and mystery
genres. The film was originally titled
"Last Summer I Screamed Because Halloween Fell on Friday the 13th",
but was changed Scary Movie in homage to the production title of Scream,
which was also released through Dimension
Films. The first in the Scary Movie film series, it was
followed by four sequels: Scary Movie 2
(2001), Scary Movie 3 (2003), Scary Movie 4
(2006) and Scary Movie 5 (2013).
Scary Movie tells about horror. Horror here
means that murder. This movie is about murder. An 18-year-old girl named
Drew Decker receives a threatening phone call while home alone one night. Drew
is chased outside by Ghostface.
The someone who wear a Ghostface try to kill Drew. Drew run around her house, but the Ghostface is success to take her, and then he
kills Drew.
The next
morning, Cindy Campbell meets up with her boyfriend Bobby and her friends,
Brenda, Ray, Greg, and Buffy. Various news teams, including hack reporter Gail
Hailstorm, converge on the school in the wake of Drew's murder. While Cindy is in class, she receives a
note reading: "I Know What You Did Last Halloween!". Then, she realizes that Drew
was murdered exactly one year after she and her friends accidentally killed a
man during a wild car ride.
That night
during a beauty pageant, Greg is killed by Ghostface in plain view, with the
audience mistaking Buffy's screams as being part of her act. When Buffy
realizes she's won the pageant, she almost immediately forgets about Greg's
death and celebrates her victory. After Cindy goes home alone, she gets
attacked by the killer. After Cindy locks herself in her room and contacts the
police, Ghostface disappears. Bobby arrives momentarily after hearing the
incident, but a pair of black gloves and a telephone fall out of his pocket,
leading Cindy to believe that he was the killer. Bobby is arrested and taken to
the police station. Afterwards, Cindy heads to Buffy and Doofy's place, to
spend the night with them. When their, she receives a call from Ghostface,
mocking her.
The next
morning, Bobby is released, being found innocent as he was in the police cell
and didn't make any phonecalls. Later that day, in girls locker room at school,
Buffy, high on the success of her victory at the pageant, ignores Cindy's
warnings about the killer and is beheaded
by Ghostface with a cleaver, though her severed head somehow remains alive. That
night, Ray and Brenda go to a showing of Shakespeare In Love, where Ray is stabbed
in the ear through a bathroom stall. Ghostface then goes after Brenda.
Unfortunately, angry movie patrons, fed up with Brenda's rude behavior during
the movie, kill her before Ghostface can.
Meanwhile,
Cindy throws a house party, hoping for safety in numbers. Suddenly, Ghostface
appears and stabs Bobby, before disappearing quickly. Cindy gets a gun from a
drawer near the entrance, Bobby follows and she tends to his wounds. Brenda's
stoner brother Shorty comes up from the basement and informs them that all of
the partygoers have fled the house. Start from the events, the story of Scary Movie start. Then,
the someone who wear a Ghostface try to kill all of them.
The Scary Movie is part of
the black comedy or dark comedy because it tells about horror (murder)
actually. But, how the way of Scary Movie to tell the story is very
funny, and it is part of joked, comedy. Most of the plot is a Scream
parody. The main characters mirror Scream's and the film centers on
figuring out who's killing people while wearing a Ghostface mask. There are
also a few direct references to Scream, including one character saying
it didn't have a plot and another saying their lives are just like Scream,
"same dialogue and everything."
The title is Scary Movie.
From the title that is related to the problem is ‘scary’. ‘Scary’ is horror
movie, but in the ‘Scary movie’ there are many jokes. Much
of the humor of Scary Movie relies upon specific references to other
contemporary films. Many
scenes and jokes parody or reference other films outside the horror film genre.

Scary Movie are The franchise was
conceptualized by The Wayans Brothers, who wrote and directed the first two
films before leaving the franchise. Their entries were produced by Dimension
Films and distributed by two different studios: Miramax
Films, as it was originally the studio's
genre film label during executive producers Bob and Harvey
Weinstein's run and produced the first three
films, and The Weinstein Company—the brothers' subsequently formed studio—which produced the
rest of the series release after the Weinsteins departed Miramax and took the
Dimension label with them. The franchise was rebooted in 2013 with Scary
Movie 5, which disregards the
events of the previous films and begins an entirely new storyline with new
characters.
Dimension Films is
a mini-major American film production and distribution
studio formerly owned by The Walt Disney
Studios and now owned by The Weinstein Company. It was formerly used as Bob
Weinstein's label within Miramax Films, to
produce and release genre films. The
studio was founded by Bob
Weinstein to distribute horror films, but was expanded to release other
genres. Originally owned by Miramax Films, but in 1993,
Dimension Films became a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Studios due to their
full purchase of Miramax Films. Bob and Harvey
Weinstein left Miramax Films to make their own film company, taking
Dimension Films with them. Currently, the highest grossing movie in the company
is Scary
Movie, which was released in 2000.
Dimension Films distributes higher-budget releases than its parent company.
The studio's movie franchises include the later Halloween films, later Hellraiser films, Children of the Corn, Scream, Spy
Kids and Scary Movie. Its films are currently released on DVD and Blu-ray by
Beverly Hills–based Anchor Bay Entertainment under The Weinstein Company, due to the Weinsteins' 25%

were distributed by Genius
Products and Sony Pictures Home
Entertainment. The pre-2005
Dimension films were originally released to home video through Buena Vista Home
Entertainment while Miramax was
owned by Disney. They are currently distributed on home video through Lionsgate (with the exception of the overseas rights to The Brothers Grimm, in which is now owned by Disneyas of 2015), with Echo Bridge Home
Entertainment briefly handling
some as well. Most of Dimension film’s productions are horror movie and
